Seattle Senior Movers Who Take the Time to Do It Right
Leaving a home you’ve lived in for decades isn’t like any other move. There are a lifetime of belongings to sort through, a smaller space to plan for, and often a mix of relief and sadness about what comes next. Our Seattle senior movers work at a patient pace, explain each step, and handle the heavy lifting so the day feels manageable rather than overwhelming.
Puget Sound Moving is a family-owned company founded in Seattle in 2009. Every crew is made up of full-time, background-checked employees, never subcontractors or day laborers, which matters when you’re inviting people into your home or a parent’s home.
Downsizing: Moving Only What Fits
The hardest part of downsizing is deciding what comes along. A good place to start is the floor plan of the new home. Choose the furniture that fits, and we’ll move just those pieces. Everything else can go to family members, to storage, or somewhere else entirely.
- Move only the pieces you choose
- Deliver to several addresses in one move
- Short- and long-term storage for items you’re not ready to part with
- Packing for the whole home, just the kitchen, or fragile items only
- Furniture taken apart and reassembled at the new place
Our packing services label every box by room and contents, which makes unpacking in a smaller space much easier. If some pieces need a home later, our storage keeps them in solid wood vaults in a temperature-controlled, alarmed facility.
Moving Into Retirement or Assisted Living
Retirement and assisted living communities often have their own move-in requirements, such as set hours, a reserved elevator, or a certificate of insurance. We coordinate the move-in with the community ahead of time and handle elevator reservations and COIs, so the day runs smoothly for you and your new neighbors.
When we arrive, we set up the bed first so the room is ready to sleep in that night. Then we reassemble the rest of the furniture and place each piece where you want it.
How We Help Families Plan a Senior Move
Family can arrange the move
Many senior moves are arranged by an adult child or another relative, whether they live nearby in the Puget Sound or out of state. We keep everyone informed.

Walk us through the home on a video call, with family joining from wherever they are, and we’ll plan the crew and the day.
Several stops on one day
One move can deliver furniture to the new apartment, a storage unit, and a grandchild’s first place across town.
Short notice when life happens
Care decisions don’t always come with much warning. Short-notice dates are often available, so call even if the timeline is tight.
Senior Moves Across Seattle and the Puget Sound
We help seniors move from family homes in Seattle neighborhoods like Wedgwood, Magnolia, and West Seattle to condos, apartments, and retirement communities throughout King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties. Our offices in Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma, Kent, and Tukwila mean a local team is never far away, and if the move is out of state to be closer to family, we handle long distance moves across the continental US too.
Local senior moves are billed by the hour, with no stair fees, elevator fees, fuel surcharges, or weekend surcharges. Our moving prices page explains how each type of move is priced. If you can plan ahead, book senior movers in Seattle two to four weeks out, or four to eight weeks for a long distance or summer move.
Senior Moving Questions
Can I arrange a move for my parent?
Yes. Family members often arrange senior moves. We’ll work with you on the plan and keep both you and your parent informed.
Can you move items to more than one place?
Yes. A single move can deliver to the new home, a storage unit, and family members’ homes.
Will you set up furniture in the new apartment?
Yes. We set up the bed first, then reassemble the rest of the furniture and place each piece where you want it.
Do you work with retirement and assisted living communities?
We coordinate move-in details with the community, including elevator reservations and certificates of insurance, so the move fits their schedule and rules.
How much notice do you need?
Two to four weeks is ideal. Short-notice senior moves are often possible, so call even if the date is close.
