Seattle House Movers for Every Room, Garage, and Shed
Moving a whole house is a bigger job than it looks from the front door. Behind the living room furniture there’s a garage full of tools, a basement of stored boxes, patio furniture in the yard, and maybe a shed you haven’t opened since last summer. Our Seattle house movers plan for all of it, so nothing gets left behind on the last trip.
Puget Sound Moving is a family-owned company founded in Seattle in 2009, with more than 20,000 moves completed. Your crew is made up of full-time, background-checked Puget Sound Moving employees, not subcontractors, and they’ll protect your floors and door frames before the first piece of furniture moves.
Crew and Truck Sizes by Number of Bedrooms
The right crew keeps a house move efficient, and since local moves are billed by the hour, that matters. Here’s our general guide for single-family homes:
- Small homes and two-bedroom houses: 3 movers and a truck
- Three-bedroom houses: 4 movers and a truck
- Larger three- and four-bedroom houses: 4 movers and 2 trucks
- Four- and five-bedroom houses: 5 movers and 2 trucks
- Five bedrooms and up: 6 movers and 2 trucks
A full garage, a packed basement, or lots of outdoor furniture can push a house into the next size up. Walk us through every space on a free video estimate and we’ll recommend the crew for your home. See moving prices for how hourly and long distance pricing work.
Garages, Basements, Yards, and Sheds
Garages and workshops
Tool chests, shelving, bikes, and workbenches all come along. Gasoline, propane, paint, and aerosols can’t go on the truck, so plan to use up or dispose of them before move day.
Basements and attics
Years of stored boxes add up. Packing them ahead, or having our packers do it, keeps move day on schedule.
Yards and patios
Patio sets, grills with the propane tank removed, planters, and outdoor storage boxes are part of the inventory, so show them to us at your estimate.
Sheds and outbuildings
Lawn equipment and garden tools can come too. Drain fuel from mowers and other gas-powered equipment before the crew arrives.
Driveways, Hills, and Getting the Truck Close
Seattle is a city of hills. Houses on Queen Anne, Magnolia, and in West Seattle often sit above steep driveways or long front staircases, and homes across the Eastside and South King County can have long driveways or narrow streets. Our house movers in Seattle look at access during the estimate so the crew knows where the truck will park and how far they’ll carry. From offices in Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma, Kent, and Tukwila, we move houses throughout King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties.
There are no stair fees or long carry fees. Stairs and distance from the truck only affect how long the move takes. Every move also includes the truck and fuel, moving blankets and shrink wrap, and furniture disassembly and reassembly.
Preparing Your House for Move Day
-
Book early
Two to four weeks is ideal for a local house move around Seattle, and four to eight weeks for long distance or summer dates. Short-notice dates are often available.
-
Decide how much packing help you want
Our packing services cover the whole house, just the kitchen, or only fragile items, with boxes labeled by room and contents.
-
Disconnect appliances and fixtures
Movers aren’t plumbers or electricians and can’t disconnect gas lines. Have washers, refrigerators with water lines, and light fixtures disconnected before move day.
-
Plan for pets and passengers
Pets and people can’t ride in the truck, so arrange your own ride to the new house and a quiet spot for pets.

House Moving Questions
How many movers do I need for a three-bedroom house?
Most three-bedroom houses need four movers and a truck. Larger ones, or homes with a full garage and basement, may need four movers and two trucks.
Do you move homes out of state?
Yes. Along with moves across Seattle and the Puget Sound, we move houses across Washington and to the continental US. Out-of-state moves get a written estimate after we review your inventory.
Can you split the move between my new house and storage?
Yes. One move can deliver to your new home, a storage unit, and a family member’s house.
Do you charge extra for a steep driveway or stairs?
No. There are no stair or long carry fees. Access only affects how long the move takes.
