Trusted Tacoma Movers for Historic Homes, Condos & Offices
Tacoma isn’t Seattle with lower rents. It’s century-old homes on the North Slope, Craftsman bungalows with alley garages in the North End, new condos at Point Ruston, and hillside streets that make a moving truck earn its keep. If you’re trying to find movers in Tacoma who plan for all of that, Puget Sound Moving has an office downtown at 539 Broadway.
Every crew we send is made up of full-time, background-checked Puget Sound Moving employees. We never use day laborers or subcontractors. That’s part of why our customers have given this office a 5.0 rating across 40 Google reviews.
Our Tacoma moving services include local moves across Pierce County, long distance relocation, apartment and condo moves, full-house residential moves, and commercial movers for offices and warehouses, plus packing, storage, and help for seniors and antiques.
Here’s why customers choose our moving company:
- Our own crews: every mover is a full-time, background-checked employee. No subcontractors or day laborers.
- 7-day availability: weekday and weekend moves, with short-notice dates often open.
- Transparent pricing: no stair fees, elevator fees, or fuel surcharges on any moving job.
- Building-ready: elevator reservations and certificates of insurance handled for you.
- 48-hour damage guarantee: report damage within 48 hours and we repair or replace it.
- Packing & storage: full or partial packing, plus short- and long-term options.
- Licensed: USDOT #1885649 and WUTC HG #063541.

Moving in Tacoma: What Our Movers Plan For
Historic homes on the North Slope and in Stadium
Houses built a hundred years ago have narrow staircases, low doorframes, and original trim you don’t want dinged. We pad trim and banisters and take furniture apart when it won’t make the turn.
Alleys, street parking and steep blocks
Many older neighborhoods here have alley-loaded garages and street-only parking in front. We check where the truck can sit, front or alley, before moving day, so the crew isn’t carrying half a block with every load.
Downtown, Point Ruston and newer buildings
Condos and apartments near UW Tacoma and along the waterfront often need an elevator reservation, a move window, and a certificate of insurance. Send us your building’s requirements and we’ll plan around them.
I-5, SR 16 and the Narrows
I-5 through Tacoma and Fife can turn a short move into a long one. We schedule start times and routes to avoid the worst of it, whether you’re moving across town or across the Narrows Bridge to Gig Harbor.
Need a Tacoma Moving Company on Short Notice?
Military orders, closing dates, and lease endings don’t always give much warning. Call our office and a real person answers, the same team that schedules your crew. Short-notice dates are often open, even within the same week.
With offices in Tacoma, Kent, Tukwila, Seattle, and Bellevue, our movers handle moves from here to anywhere in the Puget Sound region, across Washington, and out of state.

Our favorite movers! We have moved 8 times and we had our share of difficulties except when we were moved by Puget Sound. They were efficient, professional, let us know if there were breakages with an apology. They were fantastic!
Quick, efficient and communicative. Did a great job moving furniture and large items with no damage. Very pleased with move.
Ozzy and his crew were wonderful during our recent move. They were on time, worked hard, had great attitudes, and made the whole process easy… I honestly didn’t know moving could be this painless.
Fair prices and excellent service. Process was easy. Tami made scheduling the move quick and easy while being thorough.
Excellent communication and very accommodating when my timeline changed. The movers were courteous, careful, and efficient.
The movers were wonderful...so polite and accommodating. Very efficient works, always very careful with the furniture. This was a hard job, down 4 flights of stairs with heavy furniture.
