Professional Packing Services in Seattle
Packing is the slowest part of almost every move, and it’s where most breakage starts. Boxes packed in a hurry get overfilled, underfilled or wrapped too thin, and the damage shows up when you unpack. Our Seattle packing services put trained packers in your home with the boxes and materials to do the job properly, so your move day starts with everything ready to load.
Puget Sound Moving is a family-owned Seattle moving company founded in 2009. Our packers are full-time, background-checked employees, and they’re ISPM-15 certified, the standard for wood packaging used on international shipments. Whether you have a closet full of fragile glassware or a whole house to box up, they pack the way you would if you had the time and the materials.
We offer packing services in Seattle and across King, Pierce and Snohomish counties from our offices in Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma, Kent and Tukwila. Packing can be booked with any move, from a Seattle apartment to a house across the Puget Sound region.
Choose How Much We Pack
Full packing
We pack the entire home, room by room. Packers often come the day before the move, so the crew can start loading as soon as they arrive.
Partial packing
We pack the rooms that take the longest and you handle the rest. Kitchens are the most common request, since they hold the most breakables.
Fragile items only
Dishes, glassware, lamps, mirrors and framed art packed by people who do it every day, while you pack the books and linens.
Custom crating
For items that need more than a box, such as a large mirror, a glass tabletop or artwork, we can build a custom wooden crate at an extra cost.
How Our Seattle Packers Work
- Every box labeled by room and contents
- Dishes and glassware wrapped piece by piece
- Glass, mirrors and framed pictures packed separately
- Wardrobe boxes so clothes go straight from the closet on their hangers
- Furniture wrapped in moving blankets and shrink wrap
- Packed boxes staged out of the way until the movers arrive
Clear labels make the other end easier too. When boxes are marked with the room and what’s inside, the crew can set each one in the right room at your new place instead of stacking everything in the living room.
What Packing Day Looks Like
-
Set aside what’s traveling with you
Put documents, medications, jewelry and anything you’ll need that night in one room or closet, and tell the packers it’s off limits.
-
Walk through the home
Point out fragile and high-value items, anything that needs a crate and anything that isn’t coming along.
-
Room-by-room packing
Packers work through the home with the right boxes for each room, wrapping and labeling as they go.
-
Ready for the truck
Boxes are staged so our local movers or long distance crew can load quickly, whether that’s later the same day or the next morning.
When Professional Packing Pays Off
Long distance moves
Boxes riding hundreds of miles need to be packed tight and padded well. Full packing is a common choice for moves out of Seattle, whether across Washington or out of state.
Busy schedules
If work and family leave no time to pack, our crew can get a whole home boxed up in far less time than it would take on evenings and weekends.
Downsizing
When only some furniture and belongings are going to the new place, our packers can pack just those items. Our senior movers often help families this way.
Antiques and fine art
Pieces that need extra padding, custom wrapping or crating get it. Mention them when you book so we bring the right materials.
Packing Service Questions
Can you pack just the kitchen?
Yes. Kitchens are the most common partial-packing request because they take the longest and hold the most breakables.
When do the packers come?
For larger homes, our packers in Seattle often come the day before the move. That way the moving crew can start loading as soon as they arrive. We’ll suggest a schedule when you book.
Do I have to empty my dressers?
No. Clothes can stay in sturdy dressers. Just remove anything loose or breakable first. For hanging clothes, wardrobe boxes save a lot of time.
What can’t you pack?
Hazardous materials such as gasoline, propane, paint and aerosols can’t go on the truck. Keep cash, jewelry, important documents and medications with you.
Do you build crates for fragile items?
Yes. Custom wooden crates are available at an extra cost for items like large mirrors, glass tops and artwork that need more protection than a box.
What Customers Say
Real Google reviews of Puget Sound Moving, labeled with the office that did the move.
Packed & moved “I will never move my own stuff again. Even just having them move the bed by itself made it all worth it. They wrapped and packed everything up and moved everything we asked promptly and professionally.”
Packed & placed “First class experience from first contact all the way through… packers showed up promptly and were totally flexible in accommodating my schedule and other special requests. Everything packed with care and nothing broke… movers were equally responsive and highly efficient when placing and assembling my furniture in the new house.”
This is the second time that I have used Puget Sound Moving. The first was an out of state move and this time was an in-state move… They wrapped and packed a three bedroom townhouse with garage, fully loaded by the way, in around three hours… They used moving blankets, cardboard around edges, shrink wrap, etc.
