Not sure which crew size you need? We’ll recommend the right fit. Long distance moves are priced separately with a written estimate.

What determines moving costs in Seattle?

01

Home size and inventory

The number of rooms and belongings decides the crew size you need. Studios typically need 2 movers; large homes may need 5–6 movers with 2 trucks.

02

Distance between homes

Local moves around Seattle are billed at our hourly rate. Long distance moves get a written estimate based on your inventory and the distance.

03

Stairs, elevators and access

Walk-ups, freight elevator schedules and long carries affect how long the move takes. There are no extra fees for stairs or elevators.

04

Packing services

Need us to pack? Full or partial packing is available as an add-on. Blankets, shrink wrap and furniture protection are always included.

05

Time of year and day of week

Summer weekends (May–September) are peak season. Weekday and off-season moves often have better availability. We never charge weekend or holiday premiums.

06

Specialty items

Pianos, safes, pool tables and fine art need special equipment and extra care. Mention them when you request your estimate and we’ll plan for them.

What’s included in every hourly rate

Some movers advertise a low rate, then add fees for fuel, stairs, blankets and equipment. Ours includes them.

Watch out for

  • Fuel surcharges added to the final bill
  • Stair and elevator fees
  • Blanket and tape charges
  • Truck fee listed separately
  • Furniture assembly charged extra
  • Surprise minimum hours

Included with us

  • All fuel and mileage included
  • Stairs and elevators at no extra charge
  • Moving blankets and shrink wrap included
  • Truck(s) included in the hourly rate
  • Furniture disassembly and reassembly
  • Minimums stated upfront

Tips to lower your moving costs

01

Declutter before your move

Fewer items means faster loading and fewer hours on the clock. Donate, sell or toss what you don’t need.

02

Pack yourself

Self-packing saves time on moving day. We still bring the blankets, shrink wrap and furniture pads at no extra cost.

03

Move mid-week or off-season

Tuesdays through Thursdays and the months from October to April often have the best availability.

04

Have a plan for moving day

Label boxes by room, clear pathways and reserve elevator time. A prepared home loads faster and costs less.

05

Right-size your crew

Two movers on a 4-bedroom home can cost more in hours than four movers finishing in half the time. We’ll recommend the best fit.

Seattle moving cost questions

How much does a local move in Seattle cost?

Most local moves in Seattle cost between $160 and $400 per hour depending on crew size and trucks needed. A typical 2-bedroom apartment move with 3 movers takes 3–5 hours. We’ll give you a time estimate with your free quote.

What’s included in your hourly rate?

Movers, moving truck(s), fuel, moving blankets, shrink wrap, furniture disassembly and reassembly, and floor and door frame protection. No fuel surcharges, no stair fees, no blanket charges.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. We don’t add fuel surcharges, stair charges, elevator fees or blanket fees. The rate shown is the rate you pay per hour.

How do I know what crew size I need?

We’ll recommend a crew based on your home size, inventory and any access challenges. As a guide: studios and 1-bedrooms use 2 movers, 2–3 bedrooms use 3, 3–4 bedrooms use 4, and large homes use 5–6. More movers means faster completion and often a lower total cost.

Is there a minimum number of hours?

Yes. Minimums range from 2 to 4 hours depending on crew size, and they’re listed with each rate above.

Is it cheaper to move during the week?

It can be. We don’t charge weekend premiums, but weekday moves often have better crew availability, and October through April is our quieter season.

How long does a typical move take?

A studio or 1-bedroom typically takes 2–3 hours, a 2–3 bedroom apartment 3–5 hours, and a 3–4 bedroom house 5–8 hours. Larger homes may take a full day.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes, always free and no obligation. Request one online or by phone; most are returned within 2 hours during business hours. Free video estimates are available too.
